Embrace a Child’s Mindset

The 4th of July is the quintessential time to celebrate happiness. I hope you found yourself surrounded by loved ones, basking in the joy of the holiday and appreciating your freedoms!

Sandy and I moved to a 55 and over community last year. It’s proven to be a very happy place. Our neighbors have revealed an expertise in savoring celebratory days.

The neighborhood pool is the site for much of our summertime fun. One of my favorite times to be at the pool is between 11:00 and 2:00 in the afternoon.

It’s when children are allowed to come to swim and play with joyous grandparents relishing time with their grandbabies. Folks in the final stage of their lives encouraging those just starting theirs to value fun.

This got me thinking about the child’s mindset: an innocent mind with no thoughts of the past or concerns about the future, just valuing the present and celebrating fun like it was oxygen!

What would it be like if, as adults, we valued fun that way? Using our child’s mindset as we build our happiness path. Living in the moment and focused on savoring every minute of the day!

Difficult to do because everything we are taught, in order to become successful adults, requires erasing our child’s mindset. But, if we could tap into that, what might that do for our health and happiness?

Here’s to celebrating your child’s mindset and encouraging all of your loved ones to do the same! 🙏
