Phillies Hunt for Red October

Take a moment to reflect on a snapshot of a moment of joy with your family. I’m certain you have one. Just gaze at the lock screen photo on your phone – there it is, that perfect moment of pure joy, unless, of course, you’re a bit of a curmudgeon. 😂

But let’s not dwell on that.

Well, Dave, you did kick this off! So, what should we set our hearts and minds on?

The answer is clear, when you look at the Raymond’s moment of joy: let’s zero in on the captivating theme of sports. Red October symbolizes the Phillies’ exhilarating journey through the playoffs, and for the devoted Philly fans, it’s a hopeful voyage towards the World Series.

(Maybe next year 😞)

Now, even if you’re not particularly a fan of Philly sports, no worries. Think about sports in a broader sense. Sports fandom ignites fervor, enthusiasm, and pride. It draws us all in through our shared interests and our collective dreams of achieving that coveted number one spot. But what’s most striking, and where we ought to place our focus, is the unifying power of sports. It brings together people of every size, shape, and identity into a collective whole.

Now, why is this unifying aspect so crucial to concentrate on?

We often struggle to set aside the borders and barriers that keep us apart. We don’t always get the chance to be in a space where we treat each other as teammates or as family. Consider an image of the Phanatic, delighting fans at Citizen’s Bank Park.

Zoom in on the crowd.

Notice the all of colors, sexes, shapes, sizes, and identities. But to the Phanatic, if you don the Phillies’ iconic “P,” you’re a member of his team, his family. Imagine the power it takes to seamlessly accomplish this unity. Yes, that’s the unifying power of sports, something we should passionately embrace.

So, gently close your eyes for a moment and visualize yourself in a space filled with your loved ones, all sharing the same hopes and dreams. Yearning for safety, love, and that profound sense of being valued, just like a close-knit sports team or family. Now, let’s take it a step further. Picture all of us cheering for the “Humanity” team.

The arena is the world we inhabit, and we proudly don the iconic “H,” for we believe that we are all part of the same global family. All of us, united in rooting for one another, for us humans.

What if, as a collective “we”, we could win the big one? I’m rooting for it!
